According to Reuters, JVC will stop domestic camcorder production (EVERIO) and downsize an LCD television factory in Thailand under a restructuring plan to be announced Friday, … more info as we get it.
UPDATE
Local distributor, Hagemeyer, via Brand Manager Susan Rogic has elected not to comment directly on the subject. Ms Rogic told AusCam Online this was based on the fact it "has no direct information on this. The Yokosuka factory was relevant for the Japanese domestic market, so we cannot comment on behalf of other companies - you'll have to contact J&K Holdings directly on this matter if you require information"
FINAL CLARIFICATION
We have been alerted by Hagemeyer Australia to a fact of this story that was not evident by the information we initially received. The story relates only to manufacture of camcorders for the Japanese domestic market and manufacturing has been resumed at a new factory. Australian stocks it appeared were not in doubt.
