Sony 40” BRAVIA LCD TV - Safety Inspection and Rework Programme

Sony has recently become aware of a potential issue affecting a very limited number of 40” BRAVIA LCD TV models, which were available for purchase in Australia from mid 2007 through to late 2008.

The model numbers are:

• KDL-40X3100

• KDL-40XBR

• KDL-40W3100

This issue came to our attention via a report from Sony Corporation in Japan that a limited number of these products might contain a component affected by a quality issue, which in a rare number of cases may over-heat and ignite inside the television and may possibly result in the melting of the upper rear casing of the television. To date, there have been no reports of any damage to other property or physical injuries.

However, as part of our ongoing commitment to customer service and satisfaction, and as a precaution, Sony is voluntarily initiating a programme to perform a free inspection and, if necessary, a free repair.

Consumers have been invited to contact our Customer Contact Centre on 1300 13 7669 (SONY) to arrange a free inspection of their BRAVIA TV.

Full details of the issue have been made available on www.sony.com.au
