AVID Asia/Pacific announces new training programme in Singapore

New programme of public training at Avid Singapore

Avid Training is pleased to announce a new series of public courses to take place in our Singapore office. The courses are open to the public, from individuals wanting to expand their Avid skills, to Avid resellers and users from broadcasters and post-production houses.

There is a range of technical courses, which count towards achieving ACSR certification, as well as advanced Media Composer training.

Courses & Dates:

MC 205 Effects Tools and Techniques for Avid Media Composer, 2 days
11-12 October 2011 and 8-9 November 2011

This course provides in-depth workflow knowledge of using keyframe graphs, Paint Effects, Matte Keys, Chroma Key and Luma Key effects, and advanced effect design techniques. The course is divided between modules which present the techniques you need to effectively operate the Avid system along with explanatory material, and exercises that provide hands-on practice. During the exercises, you create and combine effects to achieve real-world results.

MC 239 Basic Colour Correction with Avid Media Composer, 1 day
13 October 2011 and 10 November 2011

This course explains the fundamental techniques for color correcting shots or enhancing the look of a program on Avid Media Composer and will prepare you to work effectively with a colorist. Lessons are divided between demonstration and hands-on practice.

UN212 Avid ISIS 7000 System Administration, 2 days
18-19 October 2011 and 29-30 November 2011

In this class students will learn how to administer their Avid ISIS 7000 system. We will review how to replace a failed data drive and configure storage groups and workspaces. Students will also learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the System Director and ISIS Chassis hardware. 

UN215 – Avid ISIS 5000 Administration, 2 days
20-21 October 2011 and 1-2 December 2011
In this class students will learn how to administer their Avid ISIS 5000 system. We will review how to replace a failed data drive and configure storage groups and workspaces. Students will also learn basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the System Director and ISIS Chassis hardware.

 WG112 – Avid Networking, 2 days
24-25 October and 5-6 December 2011
This is an introduction to networking concepts used in Avid workgroup and storage environments. Students will gain a solid foundation for networking theory and hands on experience implementing and troubleshooting networks using currently Avid-qualified switches. This course (or equivalent experience) is a required pre-requisite of the Interplay ACSR path.

WG213 – Avid Interplay System Administration, 3 days
26-28 October and 7-9 December 2011
This course is designed for administrators responsible for the setup and day-to-day operation of components in an Avid Interplay workgroup environment.   Students learn how to administer the Avid Interplay Engine and Avid Archive Engine (if applicable), and how to work with databases in the system. Additional topics include naming conventions, deletion strategies, deletion protection, daily and weekly maintenance, and archiving. This course (or equivalent experience) is a required pre-requisite of the Interplay ACSR path.

WG433 – Avid Interplay System Support, 5 days
31 October - 4 November and 19-23 December 2011
This course provides hands-on classroom experience in supporting and maintaining an Avid Interplay workgroup environment, including opportunities to actively configure and administer the Interplay Engine, Interplay Access, Interplay Assist and work with the Interplay Framework tools to troubleshoot problems. Students also learn how to administer the Avid Interplay Engine and work with databases in the system. Students will work in teams to build a complete Interplay system.

IN300 iNEWS System Administration, 4 days
22-25 November 2011
A technical operations course aimed at IT/Engineering/News Operations support staff. The course covers iNEWS software and configuration, iNEWS database structure and design, user accounts and security, keyboard macros, printing, system maintenance, troubleshooting and system recovery.

CS400 – ACSR Avid Editing Systems, 5 days
12-16 December 2011
Students learn techniques to minimize system downtime and maximize productivity, focusing on software problems on Media Composer systems. Lab work and role playing give students practical experience. After completing the class, participants are able to provide first-line support to the Avid customer base. This course is the foundation of the program for pre-qualified candidates pursuing certification as an Avid Certified Support Representative (ACSR).

All courses will be conducted at our training facilities in Singapore, however we can organise on-site courses at other geographies from as little as 4 participants.
